Coastal Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding

The US coast from Cape Hatteras to New England is experiencing increased coastal or tidal flooding because of local sea level rise. I started this blog to track the developing scientific understanding of the causes and to provide sources of information to both scientists and anyone else interested.

New US National Academy reports on National Flood Insurance Plan

The US National Academy of Sciences just released two reports on the National Flood Insurance Program.

Tying Flood Insurance to Flood Risk for Low-Lying Structures in the Floodplains

and

Affordability of National Flood Insurance Program Premiums: Report 1
